Matt was born and raised in Parma, Michigan on a family run farm where his passion to work with the land began. After graduating from high school in 1985, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served for four years, part of that time stationed at Camp Lejeune from 1986-88. After completing his military service, he attended college at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan receiving an Associate’s Degree in Ornamental Horticulture Technology in 1993. After working with a couple golf courses Matt enrolled at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan and received a certification in Turfgrass Management in 1996.

After graduating from Michigan State Matt moved to Indianapolis, Indiana to manage golf courses where he met his wife Julia and married in 2003. Together they have 1 daughter named Ella who was born in 2006. In 2014 Julia’s career brought them to Jacksonville, North Carolina to work at Camp Lejeune. Since residing in North Carolina Matt worked at Grants Creek Nursery as the maintenance manager from 2014-2019 where he obtained his North Carolina pesticide spraying license in the categories of ornamental and turf, aquatic, and right of way and has maintained the licenses to date. In 2019 Matt was hired as the Golf Course Superintendent at the Jacksonville Country Club.

In late 2020 Matt joined the family at Atlantic Coast Landscape and says he is looking forward to working with a tight-knit family owned business. He brings to our family expertise in horticulture, landscape design, spraying and chemicals, and irrigation installation and problem solving.
