Landscape Design/Architecture

At Atlantic Coast Landscape Company we will work with you to create a concept providing various ideas about what is possible with your property. From there we will determine your needs for a landscape plan and prepare a contract for the design. This could be a digital rendering (similar to photoshopping the landscape onto a photo of your property) that starts at $100 or a multi-phase master plan that includes several drawings provided by a Landscape Architect. A master plan drawing provides a specific vision for the site with a detailed construction plan that can be used to create the entire project. Your landscape plan should take into account soil conditions, drainage, area usage, light conditions, elevations, level of maintenance desired, and any other necessary factors.

Your plan may also include product information for any materials installed, plant information guide with pictures, detailed descriptions, and maintenance information and a detailed estimate to have your project installed. Contact us to set up an appointment.

***We will start with a conversation about your needs and your budget so please have that information available.***

Landscaping and Softscapes

The bulk of what our design/build teams does at Atlantic Coast Landscape is the creation of landscape areas and the installation of plants, trees, and mulch. We often incorporate features like natural stone, hardscapes, water, fire, outdoor artwork and other outdoor living products. You can read more about those below. We have a wonderful relationship with a large network of professional nurseries/growers throughout the state. We know exactly where to turn for the best quality plants whether it’s annuals, groundcovers, herbs, veggies, perennials, shrubs, or even trees that tower over 30’ tall. We have the largest landscape supply yard in town just to serve our crews and would be happy to show you around! We stock boulders, flagstone, river rock, gravel, sand, top soil, compost, mulches, pine straw, drainage materials, and other landscape building supplies. We work with the best vendors available to make sure we have what we need for the job. Whatever type of landscape, garden, or outdoor space you have envisioned you can bet Atlantic Coast has the best resources to make it happen.

Patios, Retaining Walls, and Hardscapes

Atlantic Coast Landscape can provide you with the highest quality hardscapes in Eastern North Carolina. Hardscapes are structures in the landscape that are typically constructed with stone, brick, or concrete. Our interlocking concrete paver materials mimic a wide variety of natural stone such as: cobble stone, flagstone, tumbled stone, bricks and slabs. Atlantic Coast specializes in pre-casted concrete materials and natural stone. Hardscape services that we provide include but are not limited to: patios, raised patios, garden walls, segmental retaining walls, steps and driveways. All paver patios are constructed using the specifications set by the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute (ICPI). All walls are constructed using the guidelines set by the National Concrete Masonry Association (NCMA). We have employees on staff that are certified by both professional trade organizations as well as having years of experience with natural materials. If you have been thinking about hardscaping in your landscape please contact us to set up a meeting with one of our professionals. Initial consultations are free.

Ponds, Water features, and Fountains

Atlantic Coast can provide you with a lot of water feature options and whether you have a fountain, water feature, waterscape, waterfall, or koi pond we can help you design, install, and maintain your water garden. We work with flexible liner ponds that use natural stone and have the appearance of natural ponds and streams. Our water features are low maintenance and have features that mimic a natural eco-system so that the water feature for the most part maintains itself. We also provide water feature repair and maintenance programs for those of you who are interested in a water feature but don’t have the time to maintain one yourself.

There are a lot of myths surrounding ponds and pond maintenance but if a pond seems like too large of an undertaking for you or you just want to get your feet wet we have a large variety of fountains and contained patio ponds for sale. Water features create a nice retreat and can add value to your home so contact us today to set up an appointment with one of our experienced professionals.

Sod Prep and Installation

Atlantic Coast Landscape Company is one of Eastern North Carolina’s leading installers of Centipede, Bermuda, Zoysia, and St. Augustine turf grasses. We have specialized equipment that allows us to install sod more efficiently in areas that most other installers can only lay by hand. This is important because it allows us to properly condition the soil to give your new turf the best appearance and performance from the start. Sod installation over hand raked soils can lead to uneven compaction leading to unleveled lawns. This creates major headaches when maintaining your yard.

If you have unleveled areas in your lawn or major weed issues, Atlantic Coast specializes in lawn renovations. We start by treating the problem area with herbicide then removing the turf, we then condition the soil with the necessary amendments and correct any grade problems. New turf grass is then installed in the site being sure that there is seamless transition from existing lawn areas to the new turf. Once the area has been cut in we then use a gas powered sod roller to even any impressions left by our equipment, tighten the seams, and provide better root contact to the prepared soil. Pull behind or hand rollers just don’t cut it.

If sodding is not a reasonable option, seeding is a popular alternative. The soil preparation process remains the same and then seed is broadcasted over the area and raked over. Wheat straw or some form of soil stabilization material is installed to prevent erosion. Warm season turfgrass seeding is a slow process and requires a lot of time and effort and therefore is not offered as a service. We can provide the preparation but not the seeding. We do however install cool season winter rye for soil stabilization or to over seed when it’s practice is acceptable but seeding is excluded from any warranty. An irrigation system is recommended for any seeded or sodded or turf grass installation.  We also offer other erosion control options. Contact us today so we can get growing!
