Trent, a New Bern native, has been working in the outdoors since he was young. From helping his grandfather in the garden, plowing the field and planting seeds, to pulling weeds and picking up pine cones when he got into trouble at St. Paul’s Catholic School. While in high school he started his first lawn business “Trent’s Lawn Maintenance”, his motto, “You grow it, We mow it”.

Following high school Trent was accepted into the horticulture program at Lenoir Community College. After a year in the program he decided to look into the forestry program at Wayne Community College. While he did well in the field of forestry, his true calling was in horticulture. After finishing his first year at Wayne he returned to Lenoir where he graduated a year later with an associate’s degree in Applied Science in Horticulture Technology. In 2003 a friend asked him to help start and run a landscape business, Atlantic Coast Landscape Company. In 2004 Trent took a job working with the City of New Bern Fire/ Rescue Dept. His schedule with the fire department allowed Trent to continue to be involved with the business which he soon took over as proprietor.

Trent sold a portion of the company to his cousin Carlton in 2011 as part of a plan to have an owner available “full-time” in the business. They have since grown the company to include different divisions with multiple experts on staff.
